The San Antonio International Airport is about 15-20 minutes away from downtown San Antonio. There is a city shuttle called the SA Trans Express, that departs every 15-30 minutes from outside the baggage claim area. This shuttle costs $19.25 one way or $34.50 for a round trip ticket. A taxi to downtown is generally about $25-$35.

There are many hotels to choose from in downtown San Antonio. Hotels near the riverwalk can be a bit pricey so we have reserved two blocks to provide some discounted options for couples and families in the area.

We will be staying at the historic Menger hotel which is a stone’s throw away from the reception venue, the Alamo, and the riverwalk. Make sure to book through the Heard-James wedding block at the link below to ensure you are placed in the historic (read: completed) section of the hotel as the other (completely separate) half of the hotel will be undergoing major renovations in January 2016.

The Menger is the oldest continuously operating hotel west of the Mississippi (since 1858). It has hosted a bunch of famous people (Mae West, Babe Ruth, Oscar Wilde, a few presidents, etc.) but is arguably most notable as the location where Michelle’s great grandmother and great grandfather met in 1917.
